An Item I Would Steal: Visvim

This pair of Visvim Elk's is the most beautiful shoe that i've ever seen. I've wanted this model, or variations of it, for many years, but it's always been leagues out of my budget. So until the money i invested with my friend Bernie starts to multiply, its strictly for mine, and yours, viewing pleasure.

If you have 730$ lying around, cop em', so i can hunt you down and jack your for your kicks.

Meant To Meet

When rugged boots and a crispy oxford meet it can possibly lead to a beautful relationship. Thats due to balance, and any good outfit needs balance. Two pieces that I think are meant to tongue kiss is the new Supreme x Thom Browne oxford, and the beautiful Red Wing Wabasha Boot. If your anywhere near me though, watch out, becuase a garment orgy might ensue.

Spring Inspiration #1: Public Nudity

Spring time always brings impressionist and fauvist paintings to mind, and like most artistic periods, i tend to gravitate towards pieces with nude woman. They say art imitates life and vice versa, so basically, im trying to imitate this art in my life.

Spring Plaids

Starting to warm up on the left coast, which means i start pulling out the plaid and madra's shirts. My closet is already full of checks and multi-colored stripes, but i can always make room for more. Garbstore and Our Legacy have been main stays on my favorites list since their inception, what is rare though, is how impressed i was by Nom De Guerre's spring line. I usually can't imagine myself in any NDG garments, but i actually loved a few pieces, especially the blackwatch pattern shirt.

SLAPS: Noise Rock

Noise rock is a vast and varied genre thats been around in some form for more than two decades. With that said, two of my favorite cd's in said genre have dropped in the last couple months , so check out the new video's 'Scissor' from Liar's new album Sisterworld, and 'Die Slow" from Health's album Get Color.

Beautiful Decay: Aurel Schmidt and Tracey Emin

Baring ones soul is never an easy thing to do, and i would imagine it's even harder when its on display for the entire art world. Two of  favorite female artists have made a career out of doing so, and thats Aurel Schmidt and Tracey Emin. While their mediums couldn't be more different (Aurel does highly detailed drawings while Tracey prefers installation pieces and performance art), their themes are very much the same. They embrace the filth and squalor we often wade through in our day and age, as well as the strange emotions that our culture is capable of creating. Aurel's beautiful but creepy figures look like they are made of regular parts from a distance, but when you get close to see that their mouthes are composed of flies, the eyes are condoms, and their teeth are cigarettes. With Tracey's work, her use of these items is far more confrontational. In her piece 'Bed' (pictured above), she literally put the bed she slept in into a gallery. The only thing is, this bed was covered in blood/urine stains, condoms, cigs, etc. which she accumulated after days of suicidal depression following a break-up. I definitely believe it's important to find beauty in the most disgusting of things, becuase beauty its classical sense is not easy to come by these days.

Match the Music: Madchester

The Madchester scene of late 1980's Manchester, England is what set the stage for the rave's that bimbos from all over California now enjoy. Its said that this scene not only created the idea of the celebrity DJ, but bands like 'The Stone Roses' and 'The Happy Mondays' which started in this period, still remain relevant in the UK to this day. In all the documentaries ive seen from this period, they love their parka's, be it fisherman or field style. So if you've got some skinny little legs you'de like to pop out the bottom of a parka, herrrrreeee yaaaaa gooooooo.

For The Love of Chambray

Yes i know, everyone and their dead grandma is wearing chambray these days, but i just love it. I struggle between this line of too baggy and too tight fitting. I dont like things to be ill fitting, but i also dont enjoy seeing my veins through shirts. Thankfully, I feel like the chambray material is thick and loose enough to have a nice hang to it, even if it's a very fitted cut. Although i've like chambray for some time, its recently become the only thing i enjoy wearing. This has lead to purchase 4 chambray shirts in the last 2 months, so here they are.
